The Longest Drive

The most adventurous and ambitious projects became part of The Longest Drive. To set the world record, cross the whole continent, do it really fast – this is what The Longest Drive is about. Jan Kalmar started in 2011 with a World Record, uniting the first people longing to drive the longest possible distance inside the same line of latitude in Eurasia. The team started from the Pointe de Corsen – the most Western part of Continental France and drove to the Krasny Partizan Lighthouse on the Tatar Strait, at the Far East Russian city of Sovetskaya Gavan. The Team set a record driving the Longest Continuous Distance on a line of latitude in 5 DAYS, 21 HOURS, 14 minutes and covered 7,959 MILES.
The next challenge followed in March 2013 – the team decided to cross North America at the same 48th latitude. And in the end the journey lasted 3 days 5 hours and 49 minutes – not bad for 7 363km (more than 400miles)!
Spring 2014 started for the team in Australia – this time the Longest Drive achieved an epic feat by driving round Australia on (nearly) the entire Highway #1 – a road trip which is 13961km, in just 5 days 18 hours 13 min and 13 sec.
After the ‘Big Loop’ the car and crew returned to Europe, where the preparations for the “North to South” project are underway. This new challenge involves driving from Northern Norway to the South Cape in South Africa passing London and Cape Town en route. There are 2 separate world records we want to challenge: North Cape – South Cape established in 1979 and the London-Cape Town, which is less than 1 year old.
